My clock
Purchashed January of 2004, it has run consistently for nearly 4 years without fail on the same cheap 20 cent battery, while at the same time updating itself constantly with the correct time based off of the atomic clock in Colorado.
Clock, much respect....

Who will be Sultan of Salt Lake?
- The two biggest spenders, Wilson and Christensen are out
- Becker and Buhler are in:
Buhler ran his campaign accenting the fact that he really had no principles, and was so easy going he could work with anybody. Let's hope if elected he's not as much of a pushover as he likes to sound.
I'm also weary of how much Becker has staked his campaign on environmental issues. Although important, the city needs fiscal and financial health as well. He wants to spend our money on more and more trax lines to reduce commuter traffic, where if the demand for such lines were to be high enough, would be able to pay for itself. I'm also baffled again by his opposition to the skybridge which would allow more convenient access through downtown businesses and shopping attractions. Instead he claims disallowing the skybridge (which 70% of Utahns support) would 'open up' downtown. When this 'opening up' is actually just forcing shoppers to scurry about the streets trying to get to their next location because it would somehow be more pleasing for him. Besides these facts, it creeps me out how closely he resembles the devil on his campaign site: (http://www.ralphbecker.com/)

Operation... A success!
Replacing your own radiator will not only save you about $250, but gives you some good one-on-one time with your vehicle!
1) Buy a radiator.. You can get them from your dealer or local auto part store, I bought one online for about $175 including shipping.
2) Unbolt everything holding your radiator in. Out loose bolts in a container, and be careful not to drop any into your engine, thhis causes crying and cursing..
3) You will probably have to unbolt your fan from the belt assembly and remove your battery.
4) Remove all hoses attached to the radiator.. Be careful ESPECIALLY if you know there is still fluid in the radiator as it will EXPLODE out of the radiator as you remove the main hoses.
5) Get a good grip and rip everything out.
7) Attach lower hoses.. You may need after market clamps as your new radiator may have larger or smalller hose ports
8) Bolt the radiator down and move in the fan assembly and plastic guard, reattaching the fan to the pulley asembly.
9) Reattach upper hoses making sure they are clamped tight.. Buy after market clamps if you have to!
10) Bolt radiator to the fan assembly, making sure the fan spins unobstructed.
11) Fill with fluid and you are done!
* This project took about 2 hours including a trip to the auto parts store for some extra hose and clamps. The new unit was not identical to the original so I had to cut some hose and replace short hose with longer.. I had to do some other small items of rigging but completed the job in a reasonable time with everyday tools.. And the best part is, so can you!

WASHINGTON — Police on Capitol Hill are baffled by an attempted robbery that began with a handgun put to the head of a 14-year-old girl and ended in a group hug.
It started around midnight on June 16 when a group of friends was finishing dinner on the patio of a District of Columbia home, authorities and witnesses said. That's when a hooded man slid through an open gate and pointed a handgun at the girl's head.
Give me your money, or I'll start shooting," he said, the witnesses told The Washington Post.
Everyone froze, they said, but then one guest spoke up.
"We were just finishing dinner," Cristina Rowan, 43, told the man. "Why don't you have a glass of wine with us?"
The intruder had a sip of their Chateau Malescot St-Exupery and said, "Damn, that's good wine."
The girl's father, Michael Rabdau, 51, told him to take the whole glass, and Rowan offered him the bottle. The would-be robber, with his hood down, took another sip and a bite of Camembert cheese and put the gun in his sweatpants.
Then the story got even more bizarre.
The man with the gun apologized, the witnesses told the Post.
"I think I may have come to the wrong house" he said. "Can I get a hug?"
Rowan stood up and wrapped her arms around the man and the four other guests followed.
The man walked away a few moments later with the crystal wine glass in hand. No one was hurt, but once he was gone, the group went inside, locked the door and called 911.
Very Strange Apparition
lI had a dream or maybe nightmare where or music teacher was in charge of picking who got to go first in line for a ride at the top of an 8 story building, then we were all outside on a bench where I was trying to tune my guitar but mine was the only one that wouldn't tune.. For some reason. I had the wrong strings, my music teacher decided to put us against each other by having a no rules street fight, so while the fight was beginning I was at the corner trying to buy as many weapons as possible for my team, it was taking to long so I was crawling to the top floor when along the way I battlled it out with a guy holding one of my friends hostage. After that I went to the top floor where the guy said I had to pay some $10,000 to buy the weapons... The end?

Daydreams become reality for this man...
"Helium Balloons Carry Man in Lawnchair 193 Miles"
This is the kind of achievement that makes my heart soar...
Destination: Idaho.
With instruments to measure his altitude and speed, a global positioning system device in his pocket, and about four plastic bags holding five gallons of water each to act as ballast — he could turn a spigot, release water and rise — Couch headed into the Oregon sky.
Nearly nine hours later, the 47-year-old gas station owner came back to earth in a farmer's field near Union, short of Idaho but about 193 miles from home.
He took off at 6:06 a.m. Saturday after kissing his wife, Susan, goodbye and petting his Chihuahua, Isabella. As he made about 25 miles an hour, a three-car caravan filled with friends, family and the dog followed him from below.
Couch said he could hear cattle and children and even passed through clouds.
"It was beautiful — beautiful," he told KTVZ-TV. He described the flight as mostly peaceful and serene, with occasional turbulence, like a hot-air balloon ride sitting down.
This is funny as well:
Couch is the latest American to emulate Larry Walters — who in 1982 rose three miles above Los Angeles in a lawn chair lifted by balloons. Walters had surprised an airline pilot, who radioed the control tower that he had just passed a guy in a lawn chair. Walters paid a $1,500 penalty for violating air traffic rules.
Congratulations on doing something tremendous and amazing, now please pay this fine :)

Idea Bank
- The government has a monopoly on use of physical force.
- Freedom is the absence of coercion.
- The more rational a society, the less it can be ruled by brute force.
- Rights must be given up voluntarily, not by force. Superior knowledge does not give the right to reduce freedoms
- Rome flourished as a republic and fell as an empire. The empire created large government and a welfare state. Barbarians were able to come in and topple the government.
- If you disagree with a private citizen he can only refuse to do business. If you disagree with the government they can imprison you.
- Ignorance typically yells louder than truth speaks.
- Pragmatists are prone to irrational compromise. The would reason, “If somebody wants to bash your skull, ask them to break a leg.”
- People are afraid to
- • Make decisions for themselves
- • Be responsible for their lives/futures.
- Problem with public radio/tv – they are being funded by taxpayers but get less than 10% of viewer ship. It is only watched by their cliques and is not actually in the public interest.
- Altruism – Placing the interest of others above your own.. existing for the sake of others.
- Do not be concerned with giving away or hording things but with a mans right to live and produce.
- A wealthy man will not stagnate. His self-interest does not lie in consumption but in production in the creative expansion of his mind.
- The creative happiness of achieving greater and greater control over reality.
- Independent men won’t produce under tyranny.
- All knowledge is interconnected – universal freedom must exist for innovation and technology to flourish.
- You cannot restrict technology you can only destroy it.
- Advances in medicine came from space exploration.
- A self made savage is worse than a natural innocent one.
- Technology is applied science.
- Freedom is the only “public interest”
- A mans ideas and actions are not determined by his economic status as a Marxist would claim.
- Philosophical crimes of the mind crimes cause the crimes death with by the police.
- Today every part of the population is dependant on government controls.
- Liberals see men as inherently weak and need to be helped.
- You can not achieve anything good through evil means.
- Want anarchy? See: middle ages
- Capitalists seek to grant power to the individual, libs seek to pull individual rights into a collective.
- Aristotle: either/or
- One reason is better than 100 insults
- If you want to stop the country altogether then abolish profits then we can sink to the level of the rest of the world.
- When a country does not recognize the rights of its own citizens how can it expect the international community to respect its rights?
- Passivity and apathy are always on the side of the oppressor.
- You can’t claim one should respect the rights of Indians when they had no conception of rights or respect for rights.
- If woman want to be equal and of course they can be, they should achieve it an their own and not as a vicious parasitical pressure group.
- Once you can compromise and continue that policy it will be increasingly more difficult to recapture your values.
- When a man lives his own life properly that is the only contribution to mankind he can make.
- You can not and do not have unchosen obligations; you’re responsible for your own actions.
- It is not good to help someone who is suffering as a result of his own evil. If you help him, you are sanctioning his immorality, which is evil.
- You have control only over your own life.
- Rational decisions benefit mankind although that is not their purpose.
- If a man can not rise out of poverty in the United States he could not survive in the rest of the world.
- Individuals must have the courage to form themselves as individuals.
- “Live Up” to standards do not “live down” to standards.
- Do not accept your enemy’s ideas and do not compromise
- Anybody who was ever great, had standards they lived by.
- Adopting others philosophical ideas are like adopting new laws through scientific research.
- The more you allow yourself properly to question your premises the firmer they will become.
